GOSPEL singer Lundi Tyamara, who will be launching his new album in Port Elizabeth at the weekend, believes his fans will see he is still the same as he always was at his show.

The gospel star, who has previously battled booze and drugs, will be performing alongside the Jaziel Brothers, Sechaba and Malibongwe Gcwabe, at the Nangoza Jebe Hall on Saturday.

He is hoping to change people's lives through his latest album, New Testament, which was released on April 14.

He said the show would be a window into his life and the tribulations he faced over the years.

"I will be mixing some of the old songs that people know me for with new ones. It will be the Lundi they know and love.

"The show will also include everyone featured on my New Testament album."

He said he had decided to launch this album, his 15th, in Port Elizabeth because people in the city appreciated album launches.

"I have never done a launch in my life and through research we found that people in the Eastern Cape appreciate launches more than those elsewhere. Also, having been raised in Port Elizabeth, it just seemed like the best thing."

The 36-year-old said the new album was about his life journey and those at the concert would be able to go through it with him. "It is a testimony that I am still strong, and that through all my tribulations, I always looked to God for solutions."

The show will start at 1pm on Saturday and tickets are R100.

Before Saturday's show, Tyamara will be at the Pier 14 shopping centre at 2pm tomorrow to meet fans. On Sunday, he will perform at East London's Orient Theatre. - Thulani Gqirana
