NELSON Mandela Bay Metro fashion designers pulled out all the creative stops at the weekend to give a rainbow of options for red carpet glamour and matric farewell magic. Designers Gerhard Meiring, Johan Wolmarans, Jason Kieck, Andre Cloete, Leandra Fourie, Odette Coetzee, Morné van der Schyff and Karen England wrapped their models in a kaleidoscope of colours for the opening number with shades of pink, coral and red leading the charge.

Many designers opted to use material from Mum's Fabrics, as the Newton Park emporium sponsored material to the value of R500 for each design exhibitor, allowing them to create bespoke pieces.

The opening number highlighted the versatility of fashion figures already known for their bridal finery, giving them the opportunity to show what stylish guests, mothers-of-the-bride and bridesmaids can look forward to, along with matric farewell and special occasion gowns.

Later on during the glittering show, mint blue, turquoise, green and rich shades of Africa gleamed also under the spotlights. - Gillian McAinsh
