Prizes worth R1.3m await new Miss SA

THE new Miss SA will walk away with prizes worth more than R1.3-million – a package organisers boast makes it one of the richest in the world.

On Sunday Eastern Cape hopeful Ziphozakhe Zokufa and 11 other finalists will strut their stuff in front of a Sun City Superbowl crowd and TV audience.

The prizes include a Volvo V40 T3 worth R335000, the use of a fully furnished and serviced flat for the year of her reign, an Africology product and spa services package worth R130000, a cash prize of R120000 from pageant rights holder Sun International, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1-inch tablet accompanied by a R60000 airtime contract, and Exclusive Dry Cleaners services worth another R100 000.

She will also be given R200 000 by sponsors Cell C to spend "on random acts of kindness", while Varsity College donated two bursaries valued at R330000 for the winner to award to two economically disadvantaged students to further their studies.

But before the confetti and the pay cheques, she will have to impress judges Anele Mdoda, Kojo Baffoe, Amy Kleinhans-Curd, Pnina Fenster and Bonang Matheba.

Mi Casa, Matthew Mole and Bucie will perform during the show and musical director Brendan Jury will conduct a 13-piece orchestra. Miss SA will be live on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161) on Sunday from 5.30pm. - Andile Ndlovu
