'Character' thanks Bay fans

AWARD-winning kwaito artist Character was in Nelson Mandela Bay this week to thank fans for voting for him in the Metro FM Awards.
"I was competing against the big names in the kwaito industry but because of their [fans] love I won the award," he said.
Character, who was named best kwaito artist at the Metro FM Awards, has been nominated in the best kwaito album category at the South African Music Awards (Samas).
The Durban-based performer said his love of music started at a young age.
"My brother [kwaito star Professor] and I shared the same dream from a young age. He used to teach me how to write songs and until today he is still my inspiration," he said. – Yoliswa Sobuwa
