PUBLIC Works Minister Thulas Nxesi lashed out at government critics yesterday, saying he did not understand why South Africans moaned about “a few million” spent on security upgrades at President Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla home while other countries spent billions of rands to secure heads of states.

Nxesi was speaking at a packed Lilian Ngoyi Sports Centre in Port Elizabeth’s Kwazakhele township, where he launched a temporary jobs programme for 200 residents.

The government event – where most of the 2000 people were bused in and given meal vouchers – was turned into an ANC rally, with several high-profile leaders wearing ANC T-shirts, singing party struggle songs and urging people to go and vote for the ANC on Wednesday. – Rochelle de Kock

I think that Minister Nxesi has not engaged the thinking matter yet!!!
The difference is the money was spent on Zuma’s private home, we already spend millions for Zuma on government houses in Pretoria nd Cape Town. We should spend on state owned buildings that is the difference!!! Nxesi and Zuma and others should stop acting as if they don;t know this.

They just don’t get it do they???? Fifty Thousand Rands can completely transform the life of someone living in a tin shanty to build a new home! Fifty Rands can buy a badly needed school text book! Three thousand Rands can build someone a decent toilet! The problem is that they think our money is their money! Don’t vote for them! They are stealing our taxes!Vote for any other party! TEACH THEM A LESSON!

well the fuss is that it our money and not Mr. Zumas and we are entiled to make a fuss. this is his private residence no a gouvernment house. a chicken coop/cattle kraal and a swimming pool are not security upgrades in any ones eyes no matter how much the people concerned would like us to believe they are. a simming pool for fighting fire with no buckets ja right this is a security measure, how gulible do you think we all are.you stole our money and that is that. the chances that any of it will be paid back is less than nil and the chances of someone taking the fall for this debarcle is great. stop insulting our inteligence please we are not all ignorant twits.Dallas
