Consul general meets motor firm representatives to show support
Visiting the “Detroit of South Africa” yesterday, US ConsulGeneral Teddy Taylor gave his commitment to lobbying for a stable business environment for automotive multinationals in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Taylor, who took up his position in Cape Town in September, visited Port Elizabeth for the first time yesterday when he met General Motors South Africa (GMSA) management.
Today he will meet Ford Motor Company of South Africa management. Both multinationals have strong ties with the US.
Taylor said his job was to make sure US companies were treated fairly, across all sectors, and to help the government recognise that these companies were adding value to South Africa’s continued economic and social development.
