Bay finance firm makes Africa move

Gutsche to open office in Kenya

South Africa’s tough economic climate has seen more businesses look to invest their money in the rest of Africa, and one of Port Elizabeth’s top financial companies is now also gearing up to grab opportunities in the east of the continent.

Edge Financial Group, a Walmerbased brokerage, will soon be registering a new investment company, Edge Asset Management.

Edge plans to register its three managed or discretionary portfolios within the next three to six months as listed unit trust funds.

The company also plans to add a fourth, higher risk portfolio, to the three investment portfolios, which over the past five years have outperformed most other listed and unlisted investment funds in South Africa.

Edge Financial Group managing director Ed Gutsche said despite the constrained economic conditions in South Africa, people were still investing their money.
