Mastering technology key to business success

NELSON Mandela Bay companies should capitalise on the population explosion and advancement of technology to survive and thrive in business.

Business expert and radio broadcaster Chris Gibbons said by incorporating at least one of these future trends in their business strategy, Bay companies could move ahead of the pack.

He was a speaker at the Industrial Development Corporation, Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber and Algoa FM business breakfast held at the Summerstrand Hotel yesterday.

Gibbons said in the past 200 years the world’s population has grown from one billion to seven billion people and it was expected to peak at nine billion in 2050.

This population explosion has led to the rise of mega-cities, which are cities with a population of more than 10 million people, and the creation of 24/7 cities that never sleep.

Despite the economic growth and opportunities created with night-time economies and urbanisation, these growing cities could also have several serious drawbacks, Gibbons said.
