Popular Pitch and Polish event back in PE

ENGEN Pitch and Polish will be back in Port Elizabeth this month to host an entrepreneurial training workshop and competition.

The competition, in its fifth year, is a training tool for budding entrepreneurs who get to pitch their business to delegates acting as investors and bank managers. The workshop and competition will be held at the Feather Market Centre in Port Elizabeth on Saturday June 28 at 8am.

Last year, Port Elizabeth made waves when extra chairs had to be carried into a packed Eastcape Training Centre for the record number of participants.

Spokeswoman Jodi Lynn Karpes said Engen had partnered with business incubator Raizcorp, SAfm, and the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber on the fifth free Pitch and Polish event.

Karpes said Port Elizabeth had shown great entrepreneurial talent over the years.

"In 2012, Bhongolwethu Sonti made the final with his community-farming idea.

In 2013, Samantha Conway made the semifinal with her healthy and nutritious treats business and Roland Jordaan reached the same stage with his coffee-growing idea.

The finals will be held in Johannesburg in September.
