BUSINESS strategist Clem Sunter and University of the Free State vice-chancellor Jonathan Jansen will visit Nelson Mandela Bay in September to speak about building a sustainable South Africa.

They are among the top speakers scheduled to attend the 2014 annual Master Builders South Africa (MBSA) congress planned for September 21 to 23 at The Boardwalk Hotel and Convention Centre.

The theme of the congress, "Building a sustainable South Africa", would provide an opportunity for national and African representatives to discuss the latest trends, opportunities and challenges faced by the building industry, MBSA executive director Tumi Dlamini said yesterday.

A big part of the focus of the congress would also be on the Eastern Cape as a province seen as one of the fastest growing in the country in a number of areas.

"We are very excited not only to be celebrating our 109th congress but to hear from these and other exciting speakers about how we, as an industry, can build a sustainable South Africa.

"With South Africa celebrating 20 years of democracy, the building industry will continue to play a significant role – driving growth and job creation for the sustainability of the country," Dlamini said.

The lineup of top speakers, together with panel and delegate participation, would stimulate insight into many aspects of the industry, she said.

Sunter is one of a few specialists in the world on corporate strategy scenarios and has authored 17 books, while Jansen has also penned several books and is a regular newspaper columnist. Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) head Pierre Voges will also speak. – Business Reporter
