Chance to join board of MBDA

ANYONE interested in serving on the board of the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) should submit their nominations by the end of the week.

The directors of the MBDA are drawn from representatives of the business and labour sectors, community and national institutions, both private and public, and their nomination is subject to the approval of the mayoral committee of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the MBDA said.

The board of directors is responsible for, among other things, ensuring good corporate governance and assessing projects and their impact on private sector investment.

They also participate in sub-committees, like human resources and finance, and participate in the development and approval of five-year strategic plans, as well as annual business plans for the MBDA.

People who want to be nominated as board members should have knowledge of the MBDA's mandate and objectives and be skilled in the areas of property development, finance, arts, youth and woman development, human resources, corporate social investment, and legal services.

Interested parties should however note that municipal councillors, members of either the National Assembly or provincial legislature, members of the National Council of Provinces or officials of the municipality are not eligible.

Interested parties should submit a comprehensive CV in a sealed envelope, delivered to the office of the municipal manager at the Port Elizabeth City Hall.

The envelope should be clearly marked "Request to be Nominated as a director to the MBDA, for the attention of the executive director for economic development, Anele Qaba" by not later than 4pm on Friday. – Herald Reporter
