A NELSON Mandela Bay company has been named Plascon’s best performing distributor for 2012.
City Paint & Tool was also named the top performer in the Permahyd Hi-Tec category for automotive coatings. The company received the awards at the annual Kansai Plascon conference held at Spier Wine Estate recently.
“We were up against top paint distributors across South Africa and Africa, and to be voted the best is a motivating factor on its own for our employees and directors,” said Gavin Biggs, one of three directors of the company.
Co-directors Patrick Gillespie and Kevin Chamberlain are equally happy about the award.
Gillespie said: “We have committed, knowledgeable staff who take pride in their service to our customers, which is unbeatable.
“We provide employment to just over 90 employees in three branches [Port Elizabeth, George and Uitenhage] and service the automotive, decorative, trade and industrial paint markets.”
Chamberlain said the company had been a Plascon distributor for more than 30 years.
“We have won brand awards in the past, but the best performing distributor award is a huge accolade,” he said.
Plascon spokesman Warren Gillman said City Paint & Tool had performed exceptionally well and its volume growth had far exceeded the economy and competitors’ growth rates.
